Build

Atech crab

Sesame, the open-source walking robot, with the 14-port board as its brain. Eight servos, a face on the screen, and an orientation sensor that keeps it walking straight.

Everything in this build comes in the Big Kit: $159. The 3D-printed parts are not included, but the Big Kit comes with a free 3D print voucher (the Chunky Kit with three), a custom casing included. Design yours with our free, open-source AI CAD tool, or email [email protected] and we will help you print it.

What it does

  1. 1Four legs, two servos each. The servos plug straight into the board, no servo driver in between.
  2. 2The screen in the visor at the front shows its face. The orientation sensor holds its heading while it walks and turns.
  3. 3The moves are Sesame's own: walk, wave, dance, point, rest. Print the frame, legs, deck and lid (13 parts), then upload the firmware with the Atech SDK.

How to build it

  1. 1Wire the servos to ports 2–5, two per port.
  2. 2Cable the screen in the visor to ports 10 and 11.
  3. 3Slide the orientation sensor into port 13.
  4. 4Slide the USB-C into port 8 and plug the cable into your computer.
  5. 5Press Build this: the editor writes the code and uploads it. Or take the finished code below.
